SIMPLY LOCAL

It took me years to crack the code. Let me save you the time.

Living here taught me things no guidebook would tell you. The best Friday night isn't in a restaurant — it's a live concert in someone's garden. The most beautiful walk starts at a gate with no sign. A padstals coffee and a conversation is worth more than any organised tour.

From markets and music evenings to herb fairs, yoga along the river and community runs — Robertson, Bonnievale, Montagu, McGregor and Swellendam each have their own rhythm. Lekker. That's the only word for it.

For: anyone wanting to feel local — whether you live here and haven't explored your backyard,  or you're visiting and want to blend in.

WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE SAID

"Up the Creek was so much fun after our Bontebok experience — the perfect ending to the day. So lively, so cool to discover South African bands. We love live music and this gave us that, plus a real sense of the culture at the same time."

— Charlotte Bennett, United Kingdom

"Coming from France, we had no idea what a braai was — we just call it a barbecue. But now we completely understand why South Africans love it so much. The atmosphere, the fire, the ritual of it all. We had a wonderful braai at our villa with local music playing and traditional wines to taste. Magical."

— Camille Vasseur, France

"Montagu is such a lovely town — and this community spot was warm, cosy and completely welcoming. We slipped right in with the locals without even trying. What fun."

— Niamh Kelleher, Ireland
